Ungulates (hoofed mammals) often combine power with vulnerabitly in a way that makes them facinating to me. They also posses very unique forms and combine many textures. From their elongated skulls, their long muscular legs and their fight-hardened antlers - they are complex and have proven great subjects to explore.

In many ways I am pulled to this subject matter by my past. As a child growing up I was obsessed with nature documentaries. The shadows of these animals have been with me since very early on. Working on these paintings and prints has been a way to revisit my childhood and rexamine this connection.
